The Unique Vintage Hamilton Dress – Review

Hello again! After 3 weeks of travelling, I’m back to the world of cute sundresses and (very, very) humid days.

Just before I left, I bought the lovely and ever-popular Hamilton sundress in its new yellow and purple color, from Unique Vintage. Although I did get a chance to wear it before I hopped on the plane, I didn’t get a chance to write about it like I’d hoped! However, it’s better late than never, so here’s all my opinions on this lovely little dress (Spoiler alert: It’s cute as hell).

The Pastel Plus Skirt

School has been kicking my butt! But I’m finally back with some photos of my gathered pastel skirt. I’m dying to get back to sewing, but it’s been so busy I’ve barely had time to even think about it! Photos of my newest skirt are below the cut.

The Floral Silk Dress

School has been so busy I’ve barely been sewing! I have about 100 ideas I want to get started on as soon as things calm down a bit. I did, however, manage to find some time to photograph a couple of creations I made just before school began! One of these is my floral silk dress. It’s got a 50’s style darted bodice (because what else do I make anymore honestly) and a full circle skirt. I’m wearing a small petticoat in these pictures, but it’s just very twirly and voluminous on it’s own!

The 1950’s Picnic Dress

DSC03746

My newest 1950’s dress! I call it my picnic dress because the pattern sort of reminds me a vintage picnic blanket. I love the soft colours and the v-neck, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Photos are by Chris Mackay. Unfortunately I didn’t take many progress photos of this, but it took around 7 hours to make, and we ventured out on a 93 degree day to photograph it. More pictures are below!

Cricut – Vinyl T-Shirts

Since getting back and recovering from jetlag, I’ve started sewing again, but I’ve also been pretty distracted from sewing because I finally got a Cricut machine! I love slogan t-shirts and I’ve always wanted to be able to make my own, so it was a pretty exciting purchase. ┬áThese are some of the shirts I’ve made so far, and I have to say I think I’m in love with this little machine.

I love the sun, but oh my gosh it was bright when I was taking these! Hopefully I’m not glare squinting too much. I’m overall really happy with how this dress turned out! The light washed it out a tiny bit, but I still think they’re nice pictures and you can see the overall construction and style of the dress! The post on how it was made is here.┬áMore pictures below the cut!

The Summer Collection 2015

IMGP3840

The weather has started to heat up all of a sudden, which means I’ve started on my summer clothes. I’ve been trying to make more of my own clothes as of late, which means doing a sort of collection with each season change. Unfortunately I don’t have making of’s for these (although I have a few I am working on that I’ve been photographing the process of, so look out for those!) but I wanted to show off what I’ve made so far. It’s hard to believe that my last few summer dresses were a whole year ago. I think I’ve improved a lot since then, and my style has also evolved a lot. So this year, I’ve been making things that are a little more retro inspired, and hope to expand upon this until I have my own sort of mini ss15 collection.
