High Fashion Classics Part Two

Women Four

(Great Expectations, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Little Women)

The second post of pictures of my High Fashion Classics Series. And another thank you to everyone who modeled for me and helped me out! You can see Part One (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Great Gatsby) here.

High Fashion Classics Part One

Midsummer Dream Two

(Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Great Gatsby)

I’m really excited to start posting about this project! For the last few weeks, I’ve been taking fashion portrait and magazine style photos of various classic books, trying to show the themes and symbolism through a still image. I’ve had some wonderful people model for me, and it’s been so much fun to shoot, if a lot of work and a little bit of chaos.

The Blue Formal Dress, Photos

The weather here has been absolutely horrible, so when I managed to get some semi-okay lighting, I scrambled to get photos of this dress. The result of it being overcast is a sort of ethereal glow, and I’m actually pleasantly surprised, because it really brings out the color of the dress. I managed to get quite a few good photos, too!

The Blue Formal Dress

I’m back! It’s been a while. Between my final year of high school, working, and also a bunch of other things, I’ve had barely any time to sew. The few things I have made, I haven’t photographed making! However, this weekend I finally decided I really needed to do some sewing again (I missed it terribly), and went to the fabric store. I only picked up fabric for one project, because it has been in my mind for a while. With awards season going on, I figured it was the perfect time to make it.

A Girls’ Gingham Dress

Girls Gingham Dress

It feels like I’ve been gone forever, but I’m finally back! After I got back from my vacation, all sorts of things seemed to happen at once that put sewing at the back of my mind. However, I’m very ready to start posting about projects and things I have been working on. One of the things I have made recently and adore is this girls gingham dress. It has a button up back and a ribbon waist tie, and I just can’t get over how it turned out! In this post I’ll be writing about how I made it.

Throwback Thursday: Projects Before I Started Costuming

Since I’ve spent most of the week away and don’t have any updates on my Steampunk Mad Hatter Costume yet (but you can read what I’ve done so far in part 1 and part 2), I thought I would do a post for Throwback Thursday, of the sewing projects I learnt to sew with, before I started making costumes. All of these were made in December and January of 2013 and 2014, some with patterns and some without. Most were skirts and dresses.
